As has become a tradition over the last few years, this year again the Irene and Friedrich Vorwerk Foundation awarded sponsorships to students of the urban planning degree programme of HafenCity Universität Hamburg.
It is important to us to reward good academic performance by young people. In doing so we want to express how important future-oriented thinking is to us. The close relationship of tradition, experience and newly acquired knowledge is not only important to us as a business but is also the basis of a good life and work experience for all of society.
The best bachelor and master theses as well as one project thesis were awarded. All in all, 17 students received the sought-after prize money from founding member Mrs. Irene Vorwerk.
On 21st April 2016 all prize winners, several professors of HafenCity Universität Hamburg and many friends of the VORWERK company from the public and private sectors attended the ceremony, which was held in the Gasthaus Wiechern.
“The VORWERK sponsorship award is very important to us as a university because it connects us with medium-sized companies, and these kinds of connections are becoming more and more important in research. This prize is also of particular importance because it creates a connection between urban planning and metropolitan studies and the development potential of the rural areas in the south of Hamburg” says Prof. Gesa Ziemer, vice-president of the research department of the HCU Hamburg.
All attendees were in high spirits throughout the ceremony and will keep fond memories of this event.
