As a technology leader, VORWERK realizes the energy infrastructure of the future with its proprietary solutions. On behalf of ONTRAS, VORWERK is currently developing and implementing the world's first CO2-neutral gas pressure regulation and metering system (GPRMS).
As Germany's second largest long-distance gas network operator, ONTRAS has set itself the target of significantly reducing the CO2 emissions of its GPRMS as part of its "Going Green" program. Thus, the already CO2-poorest conventional energy source, natural gas, will become significantly more environmentally friendly through the further development of the gas grid.
Whereas in conventional GPRMS, part of the natural gas is burned to generate heat, VORWERK's proprietary technology does not require the combustion of gas. Instead, the innovative application of vortex tubes generates heat in a thermodynamic process, which is essential for safe and flawless pressure control. In addition, the GPRMS is complemented by VORWERK’s proprietary flow metering systems (OrQa®). Work preparations are scheduled to take place by the end of 2020, after which the plant will be realized from the VORWERK site in Wiesmoor. The plant is scheduled to go into operation in August 2021.
Torben Kleinfeldt, CEO and shareholder of VORWERK : "We are extremely pleased to be able to develop this exciting project with our long-standing customer ONTRAS. The project once again underlines VORWERK's technological leadership and in particular the excellent know-how and innovation of the engineers at VORWERK-EEE".
