The NBB Netzgesellschaft Berlin-Brandenburg mbH & Co. KG operates the Buckow natural gas transfer station in Berlin Neukölln. It is a reliable, public gas supply for the Berlin area, as well as ensuring the supply of selected combined heat and power plants and the natural gas storage facility Berlin. The station is supplied with natural gas via a high-pressure gas pipeline (DN 600, DP70) from the upstream supplier ONTRAS_VNG Gastransport GmbH and feeds up to an outlet pressure of DP40 into the Berlin natural gas transport pipeline (ETL; DN 600). The station, which is still in operation until May 2020, was built in 1984 / 1985 and now showed considerable risks and weak points for further operation.
A new building was put out to tender and VORWERK, a general contractor who had also been in charge of the sister project ÜST Waltersdorf, was engaged. Demolition and construction work began in the spring of 2019, and with the help of a temporary building erected by VORWERK, it was possible to maintain the station's operations during this time. The proximity to the VORWERK-EEE site suggested a bundling of capacities for purchasing, planning and construction management, so that some colleagues from Wildau were entrusted with the project on a large scale. On 30.10.2020, after 20 months of construction, the station was integrated into the Berlin ETL grid on schedule and ready to feed into the grid. Currently, the outdoor facilities including paving, lighting, drainage, utilities and ancillary facilities are being completed, bringing the project to a successful and profitable end.
