In order to secure the energy turnaround, the German Federal Network Agency considers the construction of a further underground electricity highway to be vital.
The Federal Network Agency is thus adding a fourth underground electricity highway to its expansion plan, which will bring green wind energy from the north to the industrial centers in the south.
The reason for the expansion of these electricity highways is ultimately the energy turnaround and the phasing out of nuclear energy and coal. These must be compensated by renewable energies, whose share of the German electricity mix looks set to rise from 38% to 65% by 2030.
