Our branch in Petersberg has been working on the "Environmentally friendly district heating for Merseburg" project for the past two years, which has now been put into operation.
Waste heat from the thermal residual waste treatment and energy generation plant (Trea) Leuna operated by MVV will now be fed into the more than 40 kilometers long district heating network of Stadtwerke Merseburg (Saxony-Anhalt). This should save 16,000 tons of CO2 annually. Around 8,000 apartments as well as public buildings and companies are supplied with heat via the district heating network.
